Hopkinsville Police have made one arrest in an alleged kidnapping of a disabled child in the city from overnight.
The report says the 4-year old girl who can not walk or talk was at her uncle’s residence at 100 South Jessup last night when a friend of the uncle’s came over. The girl and her uncle had been sitting on the porch together when the uncle went inside briefly to use the restroom. The uncle said the girl and his friend were gone when he came back.
That’s when the uncle and the victim’s mother went to the home of the friend—39-year old Daniel Hernandez of Hopkinsville—who would not answer when asked where the girl had been the last half hour and gave her back to her mother.
Police searched his home and found marijuana. They also confiscated several items of clothing and a camera.
Hernandez was charged with kidnapping and possession of marijuana. Police say they do not know if Hernandez hurt the girl and the investigation will continue.
