Nearly 20 juveniles that were left home alone for over a week are now in protective custody by the Commonwealth.
Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies on Monday responded to a welfare check complaint at 130 Kingston Way involving 19 juveniles ranging in age from 8 months to 14 years old being home alone for about a week.
The responding deputies reported the juveniles were living without air conditioning or food.
All juveniles were transported and treated at the Medical Center and were then placed into protective custody.
A total of nine dogs and a cat were also removed from the residence by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control unit.
Sheriff’s deputies reported living conditions were found to be unacceptable for the juveniles and the animals at the Kingston Way residence.
The temperature inside the residence at the time of law enforcement intervention was reported to be over 90 degrees.
Social workers from the Department for Health and Family Services were also contacted and responded to the scene.
The criminal investigation remains ongoing.
