Due to excessive dryness and ongoing fire hazard conditions, a burn ban order has been issued in Christian County effective immediately.
Judge-Executive Steve Tribble proclaims this order includes the lighting of fireworks and burning of any material outdoors.
The Executive Order states a lack of rain in recent weeks has produced dry conditions in area grasslands, woodlands, lawns and shrubbery which poses an increased risk of damage from wildfires, caused by burning and fireworks.
Fireworks presentations supervised by pyrotechnics professionals or fire departments are exempt from the emergency ban.
The burn ban in Christian County will be lifted by order in the event of sufficient rainfall or when fire hazards decrease.
Christian County joins Trigg, Todd, Muhlenberg, Hopkins and Montgomery Counties in implementing a ban.
