Outgoing Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Brady Link was absent during tonight’s school board meeting.
Board members conducted business as usual despite Link’s absence and discussed and approved several noteworthy items on the agenda.
School board members discussed and approved the first reading of the school district’s code of acceptable behavior concerning students making up work missed while they were absent and dress codes of students.
Outspoken school board member Mary DeBow says its not being enforced, especially when it comes to the dress code of students.
Following approval of the code of acceptable behavior, board members all agreed to revisit the issue to discuss possible changes at a later date.
In other business, board members approved Christian County Cares to use Christian County Middle School’s Performing Arts Center in addition to several classrooms for the upcoming annual Diversity Conference with board member Sheila Cottrell voting against it.
Board members then decided to table discussion and approval to change wording in a board policy concerning school related trips, which would have been effective August 1st had it passed 2nd reading.
Board members also approved sending two school resource officers to a national conference in July with a representative from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Hopkinsville Police slated to attend the conference for a total cost of about $3,000.
Tonight’s school board of meeting was Link’s final meeting, who was on vacation at the time of the meeting.
