An older group of children in Christian County will likely soon have a new softball league to play in thanks to land donated to county government that increased the size of Ruff Park.
The park on North Drive is owned by Christian County Fiscal Court and Judge-Executive Steve Tribble presided over a ceremony at the park this morning where the new field was dedicated as “Ben T. Moss Field 9” in honor of the man who donated land several years ago.
Hopkinsville Christian County Youth League President David Blane says the new field will help the park and league serve the community to a greater extent.
Blane says softball players in their early to mid-teens haven’t always had a league outside of teams directly tied to their middle school and the new field will give them extra time on the diamond.
Judge Tribble thanked the Christian County Road Department and Ashley Johnson from the Pennyrile Area Development District for their help in the project and said the next goal is to find funding to purchase lights for the new field.
