Hopkinsville Police responded to a burglary in progress on West 15th Street last night and officers were able to arrest the alleged perpetrator.
The initial call went out around 8:40 about a black male wearing blue jeans, grey shirt and grey hair and beard attempting to break in at 121 West 15th by forcing open a rear window.
Officer Adam Robertson found a man meeting the description when he arrived and a witness confirmed the suspect—66-year old Curley Gibbs of Hopkinsville—was the person he saw trying to break in the window.
Police say they also found a pry bar, screw driver and knife that had been left under the window. A television had also been removed from the home belonging to Pennyrile Mental Health. Gibbs was charged with 2nd degree burglary and taken to the Christian County Jail.
