The principal selection process got underway at North Drive Middle School this morning, where the site based council met with outgoing Superintendent Brady Link’s designated chair-person.
School system Personnel Director Laura Morris is serving as the chairperson for matters only relating to the search for a new principal. Ms. Morris said the closing date on the application process is June 18th, so she could not disclose how many applicants have submitted their paperwork.
The council decided to go through the state for required training for the principal hiring process—but had more unique questions to answer. The fiscal year ends June 30th and a new sited based council will take over. It’s not likely a new principal can be hired in that timeframe, so Ms. Morris said the current council had to decide who exactly would be trained.
Ultimately, the group unanimously agreed to train both councils, with member Eric Saum saying it was the only prudent move.
The training will likely take place some point later this month. The new principal will replace Kelly Gates, who recently resigned.
