A vehicle versus power pole wreck on East 7th Street could have turned out much worse for a Hopkinsville woman this morning.
The incident happened just after 7 near the 15-hundred block, when 62-year old Vada Waddell of Hopkinsville ran off the roadway and struck the pole—breaking it off and knocking power lines to the street.
Initial reports indicated gas was leaking and the lines were sparking, but there was never any report of fire.
Ms. Waddell was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of a knee injury. She told police she couldn’t remember what happened or why she hit the pole.
The street was closed for over three hours while crews replaced the pole and removed lines from the street.
