There will soon be a Kentucky “Mesonet” weather site in Todd County, thanks in part to action by Todd Fiscal Court.
Western Kentucky University and the Kentucky Climate Center run the “mesonet” website as a joint venture and it keeps weather records for most counties and the list continues to grow. The group wants to place a site between Elkton and Trenton on the farm of Carl Jenkins this summer and Judge-Executive Darryl Greenfield says Fiscal Court and the Soil Conservation District agreed to help with the costs of a security fence.
Judge Greenfield says the weather records can be used for a number of things, such as farming and actions after severe weather.
The website to see weather conditions for other counties, including Christian and Trigg, is kymesonet.org.
