A Cadiz man who was only facing a speeding ticket went to jail Friday morning after he allegedly ran from police.
The arrest card for 46-year old James Acree of Cadiz says Hopkinsville Police clocked him going 70 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone on Cadiz Road. When Officer Ray Beard attempted to pull him over, Acree allegedly kept going until he abandoned his vehicle on foot in the parking lot at the Woodshed.
Police used a K9 unit to track his scent to the Copper Still, but he was not there. Thirty minutes later, Acree was arrested when he reportedly returned to his vehicle to retrieve it from the parking lot.
Acree was charged with speeding and fleeing from police and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
