The Christian County Relay for Life organization still has a little work to do to meet its overall fundraising goal this year, but there’s still time to do it in.
Relay Chair Ashley Johnson told WHOP’s Jim Love early Saturday morning that $126,046 had been raised at the conclusion of the Relay, not far from the goal of $130,000.
Ms. Johnson says that’s okay, because the deadline to meet that benchmark is August 31st and she believes they will get there.
As previously reported, the local relay groups raise money all year long—so working into the summer to help find a cure for cancer shouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary for the groups.
Ms. Johnson said $96,000 had already been raised before the opening ceremonies of Friday night’s event at the Stadium of Champions—which drew a great crowd on an unusually cool June evening.
