Kentucky State Police continue to investigate a shooting involving a wife and her estranged husband that took place this morning.
State Police say around 10 a.m., the KSP Post 2 Madisonville received a call from the Webster County Sheriff’s Department in reference to a shooting that occurred at 65 Springfield Road.
Preliminary investigation reveals that 76-year old Robert Harold Simms of Providence, Kentucky arrived at the residence to locate his estranged wife, 51-year old Connie Simms of Dixon, Kentucky.
State Police say upon locating her, Simms allegedly fired one shot, striking her in the shoulder and witnesses were able to get the gun away from him, who then left the residence in a vehicle following the shooting.
Simms was located and taken into custody without incident by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say Connie Simms was transported by ambulance to Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.
Robert Simms is lodged in the Webster County Jail and charged with 1st degree assault, five counts of first degree wanton endangerment, and 1st degree burglary.
