Hopkinsville Police arrested a man yesterday afternoon accused of assaulting the husband of his niece.
Police say the niece of 34-year old Christopher Cotton of Hopkinsville had been arrested earlier in the day on domestic assault charges. Cotton said he went to her home to get her keys around 5pm, but his story and the victim’s story begin to diverge there.
The victim told officers that Cotton broke into his apartment and put a gun in his mouth and then choked him, while Cotton reportedly admitted to choking the victim, but said he had no gun. The victim said Cotton also threw him down a couple of times.
The victim was able to get away from Cotton on foot by running away from the apartment. Cotton was arrested a few minutes later on Summit Street and charged with intimidating a witness in a legal process and 1st degree burglary.
