Today is of course Memorial Day and there are several ceremonies scheduled in the area.
The first ceremony is 9am this morning at Riverside Cemetery on North Main Street in Hopkinsville where the local veterans of foreign wars post 19-13 will hold its first of two commemorations.
World War Two veteran Tag Mabry of Hopkinsville will be the keynote speaker at that ceremony and will speak again at 11am at the commemoration at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery west off Fort Campbell Boulevard.
The annual ceremony at Green Hill Memorial Gardens on Cadiz Road will be this morning at 10, with the 101st Airborne Division providing the honor guard and invocation.
State Representative Myron Dossett will be the keynote speaker at the annual commemoration in Crofton, with that event to get underway at 10 at the Crofton Veterans Memorial Park.
Clarksville will have its annual ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park on Madison Street at 10am.
