A jury in Waco, Texas has reached a guilty verdict in the trial of an AWOL Fort Campbell soldier accused of an alleged bomb plot near the Fort Hood Army base.
Jurors deliberated for less than two hours in reaching the guilty verdict against 22-year-old Naser Jason Abdo. Prosecutors say Abdo planned to detonate a bomb last July at a restaurant popular with Fort Hood soldiers.
He was arrested with bomb-making supplies and prosecutors say he intended to kill soldiers. Meanwhile, Abdo's defense attorney argued that the prosecution could not prove that Abdo intended to use the bomb. Abdo was convicted of several charges including attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.
