The Hopkinsville City Council Committee of the Whole will discuss one of the more controversial ordinances in the last several months when it meets in special session tomorrow night.
Mayor Dan Kemp has proposed a ban on smoking in public places, stirring up the age-old debate about personal freedom and the overall health of the general public. Mayor Kemp says there is only one exemption in the ordinance council will start with—and it’s not bars.
The mayor and council members have asked the public for their input on the matter and Mayor Kemp says his feedback has been mostly positive.
Council will also discuss next fiscal year’s budget at the 6pm special session in council chambers in the Lackey Municipal Building.
