The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office has raised the necessary money to purchase a K-9 unit and the dog should be there within the next three months.
Sheriff Ray Burnam says Sgt. Jimmy Godair will be the dog’s handler and the plan is to have the animal in Cadiz by late summer.
The K-9 will be used only for drug-sniffing purposes, and the sheriff says it is much-needed.
There has been ongoing discussion on the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page as what the dog should be named when he arrives, with “Trigger” the current leader in the clubhouse.
