Thanks to the action of a city councilman and two Hopkinsville police officers, an elderly woman is receiving medical attention at an area hospital after having a possible stroke.
Hopkinsville City Councilman Charlie Henderson says he received a phone call late Sunday night from his neighbor’s daughter, who lives out of state about not hearing from her mother in days.
Councilman Henderson says after making several phone calls, he went to the Morris Circle
residence of his neighbor and when she didn’t respond and he noticed several days worth of letters were in her mailbox, which led him to call 9-1-1 to have officers conduct a welfare check.
Councilman Henderson says if anyone should be recognized for rescuing the elderly woman, it should be the two officers and EMS for their efforts Sunday night.
Officer Lageman sustained minor injuries to his hand after shattering the door with his flashlight.
