Two people were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after wrecks in the southern Pennyrile over the weekend, with one already sent home.
Officials at Vanderbilt University Medical Center say 34-year old Thomas Bowles of Bowling Green was released Sunday. He was severely injured in a wreck Saturday morning in Todd County on U.S. 68-80.
78-year old Hershel Word of Hopkinsville was killed when he pulled directly into Bowles’ path and was struck in the drivers’ side. Bowles’ two passengers were treated at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Elsewhere, 78-year old Greta Harralson of Cadiz remains in Vanderbilt in critical but stable condition after a Sunday morning wreck at the intersection of U.S. 68 and Main Street in Trigg County.
Ms. Harralson reportedly drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was also struck in the drivers’ side. Her two passengers were treated for minor injuries at Trigg County Hospital.
