There is now a certified neighborhood watch organization in the Trigg County community of Canton after a well-attended meeting there last night.
Pennyrile Regional Citizens Corps Council Operations Officer Frank Brown says nearly 70 people showed up for the Canton Community Meeting.
Canton joins five other neighborhood watch groups that have been assisted in their inceptions by the Citizens Corps Council and Brown says at least six others are in the beginning stages.
Brown says Christian County Sheriff Livy Leavell and Captain Chris Miller have taken a regional lead in the program by becoming nationally certified instructors.
Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam has held several community meetings since being elected and has been active in the Citizens Corps Council’s crime prevention and disaster preparedness measures.
Citizens Corps Council Chairman Dan Nicholson thanked all of those involved for their efforts.
