The City of Clarksville will be teaming up with several organizations this Friday to welcome two wounded warriors during the city’s Rivers and Spires festival.
Three time Iraq War Veteran, Wesley Barrientos and Jeremy Staat, a retired NFL player, U.S. Marine and friend and former teammate of Pat Tillman will travel to Clarksville as they embark on a 4,263 bicycle ride across the southern half of the U.S.
Clarksville City Councilman Nick Steward says the sacrifice that these men have made for our nation is something we will never be able to repay and the fact they are taking on such a huge mission with this bike ride is a reflection on their strength and character.
Staat and Barrientos are setting out on their journey to hopefully inspire and motivate citizens to support veterans by establishing veteran centers at all U.S. college campuses and to raise awareness about veteran suicide rates.
They are expected to arrive at the main stage of Rivers and Spires at 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 20th.
