The condition of the child injured in a fatal wreck at the intersection of Cox Mill Road and KY 117 Friday afternoon has improved some.
Officials at Vanderbilt University Medical Center say the 4-year old boy is in critical, but stable condition after being listed as only “critical” for several hours following the wreck.
The two-vehicle collision just after noon Friday claimed the life of the boy’s mother—27-year old Crystal Ramey of Roaring Springs. Ms. Ramey was pronounced dead on the scene after she entered the intersection just past the stop sign headed toward Hopkinsville on Cox Mill and was struck in the passenger side by a vehicle driven by 41-year old Shane Board of Eddyville, who did not have to stop at the intersection.
Board, who was driving a pickup pulling a trailer loaded with residential dumpsters, was treated for his injuries at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
The child’s first name was never released by police and officials at Vanderbilt can’t release it due to HIPPA privacy regulations.
