Hopkinsville Police have made an arrest in connection with a large-scale home burglary which occurred in Hunting Creek Sub-Division during the summer of 2010,and involved items belonging to former Hopkinsville City Councilman Dave Fernandez, including his 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible.
Charged with the illegal entry at 113 Hunting Creek Road on June 23rd, 2010, was 33-year old Michael McLendon of Hopkinsville, who is charged with theft in addition to burglary.
The warrant obtained by detective Randall Green notes that the burglar was seen departing the residence in Fernandez' 2004 Thunderbird, which was discovered abandoned the next day at Slate Run Apartments on Elm Street.
The house had been ransacked, with the warrant also listing two handguns as missing, with the total value of the items missing listed at more than 30 thousand dollars, though that only includes the vehicles.
The warrant also says that dna evidence tied McLendon to the vehicle and the residence.
