Over a hundred Hopkinsville Salvation Army volunteers were honored for their years of dedicated service during an annual appreciation dinner last night.
Salvation Army Lieutenant David Costellow says he was impressed that about 150 volunteers attended the event, since last year’s attendance was down due to weather.
According to Costellow, individuals who put the needs of others before their own should be recognized and that volunteers are essential in keeping the local organization operational.
Salvation Army officials also celebrated the 25th anniversary since the organization’s soup kitchen first opened its doors to individuals looking for a hot and nutritious meal that they otherwise could not afford.
The organization is always in need of volunteers, especially in the soup kitchen. For more information about volunteer opportunities with the Hopkinsville Salvation Army, contact 270-885-9633.
