A Todd County man is dead after he reportedly exchanged gunfire with police Saturday night.
A news release from Kentucky State Police says the incident happened around 11pm at 797 Collier Springs Road, where Todd County Sheriff Joey Johnson and Deputy Patrick Turner were assisted by State Troopers Jeff Ayres and Ben Cox in responding to a disturbance call.
Upon arrival, a man identified as 27-year old Jeffrey Anderson of Elkton came onto the front porch with a handgun and shotgun and reportedly fired at police and missed.
That’s when the officers returned fire, striking Anderson.
Anderson was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he would die from his injuries. An autopsy was scheduled at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.
Troopers Ayres and Cox were placed on paid administrative leave, which is policy for such incidents.
