A Hopkinsville man saw what would have been a minor shoplifting offense turn into much more yesterday afternoon when he allegedly used physical force to get away from store employees and then tried to hide drugs from the jail.
The arrest card for 28-year old Rayshawn Lamont Anderson of Hopkinsville says police were first called to the W. 7th St. Dollar General Store to the report of a shoplifter placing merchandise in his clothes.
When the employees confronted him, he allegedly shoved them out of the way on his way out the door and fled to Caycee’s Pharmacy where Hopkinsville Police would later find him.
When he got to the jail, Anderson was allegedly found to be hiding a baggie of marijuana and a ten dollar bill between his buttocks. Anderson was charged with 2nd degree robbery, possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and promoting contraband.
