The Christian County Animal Shelter is a more comfortable place for cats after the community came through again by donating beds that fit in their cages and provide extra space.
The shelter found a temporary online special for kuranda beds and asked the community on Facebook to purchase two at a total cost of $64. Director Irene Grace says when the campaign was over, all but five cages had the new beds.
Ms. Grace says the beds are constructed with materials that make them very easy to clean, but they are also elevated and give the cats a place to feel better about their surroundings.
The dogs at the shelter tend to get more attention from the community and Ms. Grace says they wanted to do something special for the feline population.
Last weekend's Valentines Pet Photo Session raised just over $600 for the shelter's Get'em Done Program, which works to have cats and dogs spayed or neutered.
