Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp this afternoon presented keys to a new home to a local woman, whose house was demolished and then rebuilt as part of the city’s ongoing home improvement program.
Willie Marie Haskins was overjoyed to receive the keys to her newly built 18-11 Broad Street residence, which is located in the Durrett Avenue Neighborhood.
The 1,140 square foot home features 3 bedrooms and 1 and half baths and took roughly five months to build and is located next the city’s planned community orchard.
Mayor Kemp says he was thrilled to give the keys to Ms. Haskins with Mayor Kemp also saying he hopes she is pleased with her new home.
The structure was demolished and a new home was built on the same site using both Kentucky Housing Corporation GAP Financing Pool funds and Community Development Block Grant funds.
East Construction, LLC was responsible for the demolition of the original house and Jerry’s Home Improvement LLC completed the construction of the residence.
