A local group is pushing for better public transportation in Hopkinsville and Christian County and will make the rounds at government meetings in the coming days.
Denise Torian says the Inter Agency Council is a group of representatives of local non-profit organizations. She says they will have representatives at Thursday evening's Hopkinsville City Council Committee of the Whole meeting and at the January 28 Christian Fiscal Court meeting.
Ms. Torian says she'd like to see Pennyrile Allied Communtiy Services receive funding for additional buses to expand the Job and Return Commute service, also known as JARC.
The push isn't just for better public transportation in Hopkinsville, as Ms. Torian says it's also needed in parts of the county. She says some towns smaller than Hopkinsville in Kentucky have better public transportation options.
She says the group won't be making remarks at Thursday's meeting, they will just be there to show support of their cause.
