The completion of the Hopkinsville Northeast Bypass has been a priority for local lawmakers for several years and an area legislator says he will try again to obtain funding for the project in 2014.
The Southern Pennyrile Chamber Alliance has put the project on its short list of priorities, but the funding didn’t come during the last budget making process. Fifteenth District State Representative Brent Yonts chairs the State Government Committee and says he will do what he can to get the money appropriated in the next two-year cycle.
Yonts no longer has Christian County in his district, and instead only has Muhlenberg and a portion of Hopkins County, but says he will still do what he can to help the citizens of Christian County.
The first day of the 2014 session is set for January 7th.
