Governor Steve Beshear today announced that grants worth over a million dollars will help fund numerous trail projects throughout the state, including Hopkinsville.
According to the governor’s office, over $1.1 million in 2013 Recreational Trail Program grants will go towards developing and maintaining 20 trail projects throughout Kentucky.
The state is awarding the City of Hopkinsville $87,500 to go towards improving the city’s Pardue Lane Park Restroom facility.
Governor Beshear says this funding helps our communities to not only open new trail projects, but to also improve on existing ones so that they can bring in tourism dollars and enhance the quality of life for local residents.
The Recreational Trail Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration, and Kentucky’s Recreational Trail Program is administered by the Department for Local Government.
