A Hopkinsville woman was seriously injured in a wreck at the U.S. 68-80-Eagle Way Bypass intersection Tuesday afternoon.
Christian County Sheriff’s Captain Chris Miller says 87-year old Ida Thomas of Hopkinsville was westbound on 68-80 around 2:13 p.m. and ran the stop light, according to witness accounts.
She struck a pickup driven by 74-year old Charles Banton of Hopkinsville, causing her vehicle to run off the road, through a field and into the Farm Credit Services building.
Ms. Thomas was responsive, but had to be cut from the wreckage. She was flown by Air Evac helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was believed to be in stable condition.
Banton went to Jennie Stuart Medical Center by private vehicle. Both drivers were wearing their seat belt.
