A Tennessee woman was arrested after allegedly side-swiping a Hopkinsville Police cruiser while driving the wrong direction on Fort Campbell Boulevard Saturday evening.
Hopkinsville Police received the report of a vehicle headed north in the southbound lanes around 7:30 and Sgt. Martin Lopez attempted to stop the car at the Eagle Way Bypass intersection.
The driver, 51-year old Elizabeth Mangrum of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, kept going and nearly hit Sgt. Lopez and did strike his cruiser. The wreck report says Mangrum had to be pulled out of the vehicle to keep her from hitting a police officer and that she had also been driving without her headlights on.
She allegedly admitted to taking at least four prescription medications before driving and was wearing a medication patch on her wrist. She was charged with DUI, wanton endangerment, reckless driving and failure to illuminate headlights.
