Kentucky State Police has launched a state-wide program as part of the agency’s Safe School Initiative to ensure maximum school safety.
State police say the Active Shooter Training program is designed to provide four levels of assistance to help school officials create or add to their current emergency management response plans.
State Police Commissioner, Rodney Brewer says the program is free for schools and the level of training is at the discretion of school officials.
A pilot program began this summer as KSP provided the training program at test school sites in western Kentucky.
School administrators across the state will receive a letter from KSP about the program.
