Students at Sinking Fork Elementary School in Christian County today were treated to a performance by special guests from Africa.
School Principal Kathleen Carter says a group of performers, known as the Young Africans Choir performed traditional dances from East Africa with Christian County one of their many stops during a nine-month tour.
Ms. Carter says choir members are recent high school graduates who are working to raise enough money to pay for college by performing traditional East African dances for audiences around the world.
Ms. Carter says her students have been learning about African culture throughout this month and the choir’s performance fits perfectly with the school’s curriculum.
Sinking Fork was the only school in the district to have the opportunity to witness the performances by the group.
