It was a rather routine agenda Tuesday morning for Christian Fiscal Court, which approved resolutions to apply for grant money.
Magistrates unanimously approved an application for a Illegal Open Dump Remediation Grant, which could total around $5,000. The county cleaned up illegal dump sites on Madisonville Road, Butler Road and Carl Cemetery Road in June and Pennyrile Area Development District Community Development Specialist Ashley Johnson says the grant would help reimburse the county for disposal fees.
Court also approved a resolution to apply for grants to renovate the outside of the Christian County Courthouse. Ms. Johnson says the project would likely cost around $600,000 and a good portion of the County's match could be made using in-kind contributions, if approved.
In other business, District 5 Magistrate Jim Flemming said he is concerned by the Christian County Jail's unusually high water bill, which was nearly $20,000 last month. He asked the staff there look into what may be causing the recent increase.
