A man and his daughter were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a wreck in Clarksville Saturday afternoon.
A fire engine had its emergency equipment activated while responding to an incident on Hedgerow Lane around 2:50, according to a news release from Clarksville Police, which says traffic had stopped on Highway 76 in both directions to let the truck pass through as quickly as possible.
The personnel on the engine told police they saw an oncoming small pickup fail to stop. The driver, Francisco Jimenez, changed lanes and struck a motorcycle in the rear. Police say Timothy Cutrell of Pleasant View, Tennessee and his 16-year old daughter were thrown from the bike into the intersection.
They were flown by Life Flight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The father has serious internal injuries and will need several surgeries to repair damage sustained in the wreck. The daughter was seriously injured, but did not sustain any broken bones. She is expected to recover.
