A Hopkinsville man was arrested Saturday evening on several charges, stemming from an incident at a liquor store.
Officers were called to the store at 111 West Seventh Street around 5:30 and found 41-year old James Bates of Hopkinsville intoxicated. Bates allegedly told police he was a Secret Service agent and that they were interfering with his investigation.
While being arrested, Bates allegedly made threats to kill the two arresting officers as soon as he got out of jail. He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center to be checked out and allegedly attempted to punch officers there, while yelling racial slurs toward employees.
He was later booked into the Christian County Jail on charges of impersonating a peace officer, disorderly conduct, assault of a police officer, menacing, terroristic threatening and being drunk in public.
