A local legislator says he plans to support a dating domestic violence bill during the upcoming 2014 General Assembly.
Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, 8th District State Representative John Tilley of Hopkinsville explains why he is supporting the proposed bill.
State Representative Tilley also says once a national leader in domestic violence protection, Kentucky has fallen behind when it comes to protecting victims of domestic violence and he hopes the passage of the bill will help protect citizens from abusive relationships.
Research shows that
women between the ages of 20 to 24 years old are at greatest risk of intimate partner violence, and the state’s current protective order law does not adequately protect victims of dating violence.
