Kentucky's Supreme Court Chief Justice and several lawmakers from across the Commonwealth will be in Hopkinsville Friday morning for an interim joint Judiciary Committee meeting.
State Senator Whitney Westerfield and State Representative John Tilley of Hopkinsville chair the Senate and House Judiciary committees and were able to schedule the meeting for 10 a.m. at the Christian County Justice Center.
Senator Westerfield says Chief Justice John Minton will give a state of the Judiciary address as part of the meeting, but they'll also look at other issues for next year's session.
Representative Tilley says there will be a 1 o'clock meeting of the Juvenile Justice Task Force after a break for lunch and the public is also invited to that meeting.
It isn't too often that a General Assembly meeting is held in Hopkinsville and Senator Westerfield says it's an opportunity for those who can't make it to Frankfort to see state government in action.
Senator Westerfield says he invited students from several local schools to attend and believes at least some will make it.
