The 2013 Pennyrile Walk to End Alzheimers is coming up Saturday morning and organizers are hoping to raise a lot of money for a worthy cause.
This year's goal is $53,000 for the Alzheimers Association, which supports research of the devastating disease and supports local programs and services for those suffering from Alzheimers.
Walk Publicity Chair Traci Mason says registration will begin at 9 Saturday morning at the Christian County Justice Center and the walk starts around 10.
She says it's a short walk, but it's for a good cause and it's a lot of fun.
A combined total of about $90,000 was raised in the first two years of the walk. Officials say 80,000 Kentucky families are currently living with Alzheimers and they hope events such as the one coming Saturday will make that number much lower in the future.
