Clarksville Police is stepping up enforcement on school bus routes to ensure area children are getting on and off school buses safely.
Police are reminding motorists that when a school bus is stopped, with its red lights flashing and its stop sign out, all traffic from both directions must stop.
There will be patrol units at all known bus stop areas and unmarked police vehicles following buses.
Police say when a driver is stopped for this violation, the person will be cited and the total cost for the Class A Misdemeanor is $465.50.
Police are also motorists to be prepared for extra patrols at all school zones and when the school zone lights are flashing, the speed limit is 20 miles per hour.
