This week has been Child Passenger Safety Week and Clarksville Police are urging residents to always secure their small children in a safety seat.
Police on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be at 2728 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and at Fort Campbell, in the Main PX parking lot, where officers will be assisting other agencies in checking and installing child safety seats.
Police say statistically, 96 percent of parents and caregivers believe their child safety seats are installed correctly, but research shows that seven out of 10 children are improperly restrained.
Police also say safety seats can reduce fatal injuries by 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers.
