All flags at state office buildings in Kentucky will be lowered to half-staff this week in honor of the Washington Navy Yard victims.
Governor Steve Beshear has directed that flags be flown at half-staff until Friday.
According to the Governor’s Office, this order follows a proclamation from President Obama ordering flags to be flown at half-staff at the White House and other federal buildings to honor the victims.
Governor Beshear says the Washington Navy Yard Shooting was a senseless, unwarranted and sordid act of violence and Kentuckians and all Americans stand with the Washington Community as we grieve and pray for the victims, their friends and families.
The governor is also encouraging residents, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
