Hopkinsville residents won't have to travel to Frankfort to see state government in action next month.
An interim joint meeting of the House and Senate Judiciary committees will be held at the Christian County Justice Center October 4 at 10 a.m. and the Juvenile Code Task Force will meet at 1 p.m.
Third District State Senator Whitney Westerfield and 8th District State Representative John Tilley will co-chair both meetings and Tilley says it will be an opportunity for the focus to be on issues facing western Kentucky.
Representative Tilley says the task force is looking at ways to reform the juvenile justice system, which will hopefully save tax-payer money and do a better job of rehabilitating juveniles who find themselves in the court system.
The meetings will be open to the public and Tilley says they are often well-attended when held outside of Frankfort.
