A couple of schools in Christian and Trigg counties are receiving financial assistance from the United Way and Toyota Manufacturing to fund an academy aimed at parents.
News conferences are scheduled Friday at Lacy Elementary School and Trigg County Primary School for announcements regarding the Toyota “bornlearning” Academy.
With the help of an $11,500 grant from Toyota’s manufacturing operations in Kentucky and a strong partnership with United Way, the initiative's goal is to teach parents and caregivers of children from prenatal to five years old how to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities.
The six monthly workshops are free to participants. The new academy is part of a five year $1 million investment to establish Toyota “bornlearning” Academies at 62 schools by the end of 2016.
