September 11th will always be a day of mourning and remembrance for first responders across the country and the Hopkinsville Fire Department is certainly no different.
Fourteen fire-fighters from Hopkinsville participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Nashville over the weekend and Deputy Chief Eric Bleidt says they each had a photo of one of the 343 fire-fighters who died in terrorist attacks.
Deputy Chief Bleidt says over $1,500 was raised by the Hopkinsville Fire Department to help families of the fallen fire-fighters.
New York City may be a long ways away from Hopkinsville, but Bleidt says 9/11 will always be a reminder of the importance and dangers of being a fire-fighter.
Members of departments across the region participate in the 110-story stair climb in Nashville each year.
