Kentucky State Police has charged a Princeton man in connection with the death of a Princeton woman early this morning.
Around 5:05 a.m. KSP was contacted by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department in reference to a stabbing that occurred at a 511 North Plum Street residence in Princeton.
State Police say preliminary investigation reveals that the victim, 50-year old Penny Riley of Princeton and the accused, 39-year old John E. Barnwell II of Princeton were involved in a verbal disagreement that turned physical.
State Police say after the altercation took place, Barnwell fled the scene and was taken into custody without incidence at his Needmore Road residence in Princeton.
Police say Ms. Riley was transported by ambulance to the Caldwell County Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.
Barnwell is now charged with murder and theft of an automobile and he is currently lodged in the Caldwell County Jail without bond.
An autopsy was conducted today at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville with the cause of death as a single, stab wound.
