There is a new facility director at Western State Hospital.
This month's Western Statement says Roger Westfall began those duties August 1. He has served the staff and patients at Western State in a variety of capacities during his 27 year tenure, including in personnel, staff development and training, in the fiscal office, administrative services and for the past three years as associate facility director.
Westfall says it's truly an honor to have the opportunity. He says providing care for patients in a safe and learning environment will continue to be the top priority. The new director also vows to be supportive of the Western State Hospital staff, who have dedicated their careers to serving the patients and their families.
The newsletter says Westfall is a 1980 graduate of Murray State University where he majored in accounting. He also holds a nursing home administrator's license. Westfall succeeds Steve Wiggins, who retired after 16 years as facility director in March.
