A man riding a bicycle was charged with first degree robbery and several other charges following an investigation Friday evening.
Hopkinsville Police received a report of an intoxicated man on a bicycle in the area of North Fowler Avenue and they made contact with 45-year old James Stewart of Hopkinsville.
The report says Stewart refused to stop when ordered to and that he smelled of alcohol. He was arrested on public intoxication and fleeing from police charges and officials at the jail allegedly found a bottle of prescription pills that didn't belong to him on his person.
The owner of the pills alleged that Stewart had entered his house without permission and struck and choked him before taking the pills. Stewart was additionally charged with first degree robbery, tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
